An amazing 20 Circuiteers at the beach yesterday despite Loch Leven Half Marathon

The three youngsters from Dunfermline & West Fife, Louise, Cathlin and Connor were all out in force this week unfortunately they have more pressing races next week which shall keep them away, and a well done to young Shinty player Tom Abbot who has been really giving it a go!

Another new edition to the Saturday’s from the Beacon Road Runners, Derek who was recommended to get it a wee try, that was again 4 Beacon Runners there this week with 5 last.

Loch Leven kept away Claire Howie who got 1.34 for the Half and Saturday Regular Tony Smith who was a bit down on his Edinburgh Half a few weeks ago, we shall get Tony back on track for the Dunfermline Half, Judy Dobson and Chris Mysercroft who’s club Kinross Road Runners were hosting and organising the event.

65places left for Loch Leven Half Marathon entry closes midnight tonight

You can enter online Here

General

The Loch Leven Half Marathon is organised by Kinross Road Runners whose aim is to ensure that it continues to be “one of the best half marathons in Scotland”. The route is a gently undulating round the scenic shores of Loch Leven. The event is open to runners aged 18 or over on the day of the race.

The race is run under UK Athletics Rules and is a scottishathletics permit event.

Entries

There will be no entries on the day of the race.

Registration

Race Numbers and timing chips will be issued from 11:00 on the day of the race at Registration in King George V Playing Fields (KGV).

This is a change from previous years as the old High School is now closed. Race Numbers are not exchangeable and no-one will be allowed to run without one.

Start

The race starts at 1:00 pm. The Start and Warm-up Area is in Clashburn Road at Bridgend Industrial Estate at the south of the town.

Health and Safety

Clear route maps will be posted at Registration. The route is well signposted, but it is on public roads. The organisers are being assisted by Tayside Police, Fife Raynet, and a number of voluntary marshals. The safety of all is paramount and it is a condition of entry that competitors must follow the instructions of the Police and the marshals. All runners must enter emergency contact details on the back of their number.

Prizes

There are generous cash prizes in all runner categories as well as a team prize for ladies and men. All finishers receive a memento and a goodie bag. Spot prizes will also be handed out in the finish area. Full results will be available at www.kinrossroadrunners.co.uk.

Facilities

There are toilets and changing facilities at Registration. Car Parking is available at the old Health Centre Car Park at Lathro (Heading north towards Milnathort on the left hand side). Additional parking is possible on the Muirs south of Registration. Please do not park on the Muirs north of Registration, where the police have positioned No Waiting cones. This is for the safety of the runners. There are four water stations on the route and drinks are available at the finish.

A “Race Cafe” will be open from 11.00 onwards at the finish area, where, for a modest fee, competitors, friends and family can sample home baking + tea, coffee, juice, etc. The money raised at the cafe will be donated to charity.

Fun Run

There will be a family fun run at 1:40 pm at KGV close to the main race finish area. Entries will be taken from 1:00 pm. The fee is £2.00, which is donated to charity and each runner will receive a goodie bag.

Feel Good Fair

There will be ‘Feel Good Fair’ running alongside the finish. This is hosted by Kinross Local Events Organisation (KLEO) and will have a host of events for spectators and competitors to enjoy. Entry to the Feel Good Fair is free! Your supporters will be fully entertained whilst you are competing!

14 Circuiteers at this morning’s Beach Session

Not normally on, on a Sunday however due to the Race yesterday I very much wanted to get down at least this morning and enjoy having my normal Blast!

I wasn’t disappointed I had 5 runners from the Beacon Road Runners turn up which got my old grey matter working trying to running everybodies name. It was good to see the three youngsters return from Dunfermline & West Fife with young Louise’s Dad Robert who had threatened to come and join us this past few month came in for a blast sporting the knee support and all, well done!

Session was 7x6min with a 2min recovery!
