My plan is to try and locate a hall which shall be near a main arterial route taking in our friends from Aberdour, Dalgety Bay and Dunfermline with a potential view of taking new people from Kirkcaldy and the north………………..that’s the plan.
Today I have concentrated my efforts around Dunfermline with a view to hit the surrounding areas on Friday! I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of feedback you have been actively sending me so please keep it coming and I shall respond accordingly and hopefully posivtivily.
So today I had started off at the nearest place St.Columba’s High School Woodmill Rd, bumped into the janitors, they told me that this school is not open during the term holiday’s and that it is not a Community use facility. I was then advised to try Woodmill, which I did and got a rather nice lady by the name of Gill who commented that Woodmill is closed during non term time and that they have only a Tuesday night on a badminton sized area and that you I couldn’t get in before 6 pm, so that kind rules that one out.
Headed up to Abbeyview Community Centre, they are fully booked. Continued to the Tryst Centre they are only interested in non profit making business, so that was Knocked on the head. Headed up to St.Ninians not a rather interesting building from the outside but a well kept church inside, they were too busy in a meeting so I’ll try again tomorrow.
Drove over to Halbeath, Lauder College, big place should have a hall, receptionist was not interested in the idea half heartly called somebody to be told the same, no inspiration…………………… drove along the road and was pretty excited about going up to the BLCC behind the Premier Inn, great location, vast parking, welcoming building. Went in and they had brilliant posters up on the wall as you came in, something I would have in my building, Words were in Bold to match the decor: WELCOMING, RESOURCEFUL, HELPFUL, ENCOURAGING, MOTIVATIONAL, TEAMWORK. I thought this is great! They had two major rooms, one that was being prepared for a wedding, the room was beautiful. The other room I might be able to utilise was carpeted and a pretty good size, after explaining my motives she said that the manager would be back on Monday and a decision shall be given then!
Left there with a glimmer of hope, headed down to pop into the building beside, the Premier Inn, nothing, up to Kingseat Community Centre locked, then across to the St.Andrews Erskine Church again locked but looks good from the outside. Travelled to Townhill Community Centre where I bumped into a gentleman who overseas resources for the council, after being told Townhill had nothing he stated that Camdean had a Circuit Class which I did hear from someone before, the instructor had not long left and that he was unsure what was currently happening, he gave me a name and a mobile number which I called, a good response was had so we are meeting on Monday with a view to seeing the next step. It may be ironic that I might end up a stone’s throw away from our previous location!
Tomorrow’s adventure’s shall take in:- Aberdour, Masonic Hall, Church hall, and community centre, Dalgety bay community centre, Inverkeithing High, Inverkeithing Masonic Hall, Parkgate community centre, Queens Hall, Charlestown, the Territorrial Army base in Elgin Street, Dunfermline High School, Del Farq community centre, Park Neuk CC, Balridgeburn CC, Queen Anne High School, East End park, Crossgates CC, North Queensferry Hotel, Pitreavie Indoor Athletics Track…………………wish me luck!!!!!
At the moment Dulloch Leisure Centre has a good Friday location but it’s pricey Monday’s and Wednesday’s are a 6.15pm start which will not work.
