Monday 9th June

Back into the weekly routine with my usual 4×2.26miles=9miles.  Never really managed to get much to eat during the day sue to being rushed off my feet with work which is great!  Never managed the late 3.5mile home due to being tired and hungry!  At least 9miles done, planning to do the same Tuesday!

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday training

Wednesday, very busy with work so I was unable to get out!  Thursday 4×2.26=9 miles, Friday 4×2.26=9miles, Saturday no training at all, Sunday left it late in the evening went up Benarty Hill in Ballingry, 75mins of scambling over heather undulations fences etc to get to the top as this was my forst attempt, once at the top took a proven track back which shall help me next time!

Being out on both Friday and Saturday nights proved 2 things, both Maryann and I are not used to being out late and it upsets your body clock for training!

Tuesday Training

Lacking a bit of drive at the moment maybe the post marathon blues don’t seem to have much get up and go, a lot of things going on at work is not helping. My normal group at 6pm was called off so I could get to the club!

The session was 14×400′s I done the first 10 in 75 the the final 4 sub 73′s felt pretty good but tired!

Sunday Training

Managed to get a small window to train in the afternoon, after Saturday’s glourious day Sunday was rainy the whole day with no let up!  Managed to get up onto Kinneswood near Scotlandwell.

My aim was to get Bishop’s via a trail then go to the base of West Lomond head towards the Sir John Knox’s Pulpit then head south west back to my starting point.

Got up to Bishop’s mist was in to 50 feet decided to go round Whitcraigs and practice my ascending and decending drills to improve my confidence level, legs weretired from the Marathon the training and the Strathallan 5 race so gave in after 40 mins then headed back to the car!

Probably 3-4miles 500ft of climbing

Strathallan 5 Saturday night

Probably the warmest day with no wind blessed us on Saturday.  That evening the Strathallan 5 was taking place with over 100 entrants.  Race got underway and at least this year I was on the starting line rather than still warming up 20meters behind it!  Neil Young, Paul Roarty, Brian Cruckshank and Lewis Lawson went to the front, which stayed that way until the first descent where I moved up to second, I was conscience of Neil’s lead but I kept my head down determined to run my own race, I could less noice from my back which was a good thing and we got round the first lap about 14 minutes so I felt I had lost the time at the front of the race rather than the back half.

I tried to pull Neil in but couldn’t do it, maybe the legs had not got the quality in them after the marathon.  2006 managed a PB on the course 27.06, last year 27.10 this year 27.35, 22 secounds behind winner Neil Young, Fife.
