The championships start with a 24 Hour road race in Llundudno on Friday. The winning team is based on the cumulative distance run by the top 3 runners from each nation. Scotland are represented by the experienced Pauline Walker (Carnegie) who is the National record holder for 100 miles; 200K and 24 hours. She will be backed up by two athletes making their 24 hour road race debut Sharon Law and Debbie Consani (both Garscube) however both have extensive experience and impressive form from the West Highland Way race. The men are equally experienced with two-time West Highland Way winner Ritchie Cunningham (Carnegie) and multiple Scottish ultra internationalist Paul Hart (Dumfries), joining GB international Steve Mason (Dundee) and multiple ultra record holder William Sichel from Orkney
On the Saturday there is a full programme of hill racing at Llanberis where Scotland again field strong teams. The ladies team in particular, as all have experience of the World Mountain Trophy. Tracey Brindley (Bellahouston RR) who was 2nd in the 2005 Trophy is backed up by Christina Rankin (Kilbarchan); Catriona Buchannan (Central) and Sue Ridley (Edinburgh). They are joined by Claire Ward (HBT), an multiple orienteering International gaining her first hill running selection. An equally strong men’s team is led by GB Internationals Robbie Simpson (Deeside) and Joe Symonds (HBT) and backed up by Sam Hesling (Carnethy), Alastair Anthony (Ochil) and Kenny Richmond (Bellahouston RR).
Also on Saturday at Llanberis, Scotland’s age-group hill racing teams will take part in the UK Junior Hill International. This competition is competed for over two age-groups with 3 to count from a team of 4. Travelling for this competition are will be: U16 Girls – Myrtle Breckenridge (Shettleston); Emma and Oonagh Dunnett (Edinburgh); Louise Mercer (Teviotdale). U16 Boys – Chris Galloway (Fife); Andrew Lawler (Law and District); Rowan Marr (Gala); Callum Matthews (Kilbarchan) U19 Women – Scout Adkin (Moorfoot); Jennifer Cruickshanks (Fife); Halina Rees (Fife); Kirstie Rogan (Forres) and U19 Men – Sam Burgess (Aberdeen); Craig Campbell (Inverness); Adam Harris (Fife); Garry Rankin (Kilbarchan).
The championships then finish with a trail race over 55K on Anglesey. Scotland have again entered experienced teams featuring GB internationals Angela Mudge (Carnethy); Lucy Colquhoun and Kate Jenkins (HBT) backed up by ultra specialist Nathalie Christie (Edinburgh) and Claire Gordon (HBT) better known for her long distance mountain performances. The male team brings together Scottish Ultra Trail Champion Matt Williamson (Bellahouston RR) with long distance Mountain specialists Paul Raistrick (Inverness) and Andy Fallas (Carnethy).

Baxters Pasta PartyCome along to the Baxters Pasta Party between 12.30-18.00 on Saturday 1 October. All runners, friends and family are invited! This will be an ideal opportunity to “carbo-load” on a delicious three-course meal. During this special 10th year Pasta Party there is an exciting new menu, live music from Hoodja of Belladrum fame, and should you need them, a small number of physiotherapists and massage therapists on hand who will provide massage in return for a small donation to charity. Transport to Marathon StartAll marathon runners have been allocated a place on the bus from outside the Ice Rink near the Event Village at Bught Park, Inverness to the Start. There will also be a special pick-up from two locations on Loch Ness - Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus. We are anticipating minimal runners requiring pick-up from here. Please e-mail info@lochnessmarathon.com to reserve your place for this as soon as possible (by 12 September at the latest).(Please note that the organisers will not be organising return transport to Fort Augustus or Drumnadrochit after the race). Lots for Spectators too!There will be lots going on for runners and spectators at the Event Village on Sunday 2 October with exciting new family fun activities and live music including Hoodja who delighted the crowds at Belladrum this summer. For the second year running, the Baxters Food & Drink Fayre will provide a mouth-watering array of hot and cold food to eat on the go. RACE DATE
The event will take place at 2pm on Sunday 28th August 2011 and is being organised by Cloybank Estate with the assistance of Carnegie Harriers.
RACE START POINT
The race starts and finishes within the grounds of Cloybank Estate, Braeface Road, Banknock.
ENTRY FEE
The race entry fee is £5.00 for SAL members and £7.00 for Non-SAL members.
There is a race limit of 75 runners. Online entry is available at www.entrycentral.com
THE COURSE
The race takes place on the trails and grassland within Cloybank Estate and is two laps of undulating terrain.
PARKING
There is ample parking available within the grounds of Cloybank Estate.
REGISTRATION
Competitors are asked to be within the grounds of Cloybank Estate no later than 30 minutes before the race start at 2pm.
CHANGING FACILITIES
Changing Facilities are available at Cloybank Estate but we recommend that you come along ready to run. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment.
REFRESHMENTS
Light refreshments will be available after the event. Runners and their family / friends are invited to use the coffee shop facilities at Cloybank Estate.
RACE PRIZES
Individual awards will be presented to the 1st three men, 1st three ladies, 1st male 40, 1st female 40, 1st male 50 and 1st female 50. Spot prizes will also be presented.
RESULTS
The race results will be available on the Carnegie Harriers website and the Scottish Athletics website after the event.

| Event Information
1pm Sunday 31 July 2011 at Silver Sands, Aberdour This SAF registered 7-mile race starts and finishes at Aberdour’s Silver Sands Park. The scenic course is of mixed terrain over undulating coastal paths between Aberdour and Dalgety Bay. Make sure you keep something in reserve for the notorious Donkey Brae climb towards the finish! Everyone who takes part will receive a medal. Unfortunately the course is not suitable for wheelchair users and the race is open to runners aged 17 years and over only.
Late entry is possible on the day but only from 10.00am – 12.00pm at Aberdour Primary School assembly hall. Access and parking are difficult for late arrivals so please allow plenty of time. Parking charges will apply.
Why not bring your friends and family and enjoy a great day out? There is a 2-mile race (9 years and over only) and a fun run open to all. There will be lots of entertainment for non runners before, during and after the races! Farmer’s village market in the marquee including refreshments, entertainment and much more. For more details check out the Aberdour Festival website. Results will be available in the Fife Free Press. Prizes and support have been generously donated by our sponsors: Run 4 It, Highland Spring, Concept Group and Fife Free Press. |
