Winner 429 Brian Forfar Runners, Ritchie 462 myself 459
Doing his normal plan sitting in and assessing the pack then hitting them with all his Hill Climbing Might, Ritchie was a minute behind me at 15miles but at the last check point but he knew his ace card was up still up his sleeve, I had lost a bit of ground on the leader and energy on the middle section of Leg 2 where there is a 35 degree Left to Right drop I was slipping all over the place, fell twice in the uneven marshy section so I was glad to get out of this half mile stretch to get back on the road but with 10 miles I was slowing a bit.
Up until this point I was happy, feeling comfortable and just watching the leader.

Past the final check point felt ok had 65mins to do the last 6miles I knew it would be a tall order but thought there may be an outside chance of getting under the 3hrs, but the wheels started to come off when I got over the main road at Enochdhu and hit the hills I had no drive, it was it this point Ritchie eased by me, within 15mins he looked miles away, I had to grit me teeth and climb and keep running or else I would lost the motivation to continue and I wouldn’t know where I would have finished.
I grinned and said “your no getting the better of me course”, I kept looking over my shoulder at the stile before the flatter grassier section about 2.5-3miles from home but no sign of the 4th place person, great plod on I did running all the way to the last hill.
Outside of my left Hamstring started to hurt me, reminding of the end of a painfell Stuc O Chroin race a few years ago, keep going I was saying to myself, I could still the Leader with Ritchie closing in fast as they ran up the final climb.
Last Hill I was walking quicker than I was running so I walked all the way up to the top, at the top I bagged a mouthful of sweeties & my final Cherry Lucozade remains to get me to the finish, looking back at the stats I had reached the summit when Ritchie and Brian had finished, so I was over a mile behind in the race, anyway I took my time coming down the final decent as my Hamstring was shouting at me. One final look over the shoulder onto the flatter easier section then I managed one final push to the finish.
I was glad to be finished and Maryann, Isla and the boys helped me in cheering me on which was great!
But hat off to Ritchie hes an animal.

Just over 30,000 people lined up on the Champs-Elysees for the start of the 2011 Paris Marathon. With sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s, runners had perfect conditions for a PR, and a few were set.
Benjamin Kiptoo, 31, of Kenya won the race in 2:06:31, a personal best by 46 seconds. Last year he placed fourth.
Kiptoo started his career as a marathon pacer back in 2006, capturing his first major win in 2009 at the Rome Marathon. His 2:07:17 was the fastest time ever run on Italian soil.
Bernard Kipyego, also of Kenya, was second today in 2:07:14 and Eshetu Wendimu of Ethiopia was third in 2:07:32.
In the women’s division, Priscah Jeptoo, 27, of Kenya, dominated the field, crossing the finish line for the win in 2:22:55, also a new PR. Her previous best was a 2:27:02 run in Torino last November.

By Robert Gilroy, 2nd place was Kerry Liam Wilson 2.37, who finished in the same position last year in 2.32 but Kerry commented that he hit the wall around 20 after taking stomach cramps at 17, done well on finishing!
