Maryann ran leg 2 being chased by Circuiteers Gail Murdoch and Andrew Smith, top 2 pictures are in Falkland the start of the race, the 2 underneath and the bottom right picture is 1 minute into the race, the teams of 2 have to climb East Lomond hill towards Ballo Reserviour as you can see in pictures 5&6 of Alison West and Isabel Burnett, the bottom left picture is at Scotlandwell which was the finish of leg 2 start of leg 3 going up Whitecraigs, Bishop and West Lomond.

Carnegie were planning on having a really good team there but the Masters relay was re-scheduled to the day after the Burdens so it was agreed that the Scottish Masters would come first.

Carnegie Secretary Iain Taylor

Ran 17.09 this morning at Edinburgh’s 5k Time Park Run Iain ran 17.13 last week and his target has been to run under the 17min’s.

PB070180

Iain started Carnegie Harriers over 10years ago to accomadate runners for all ages and abilities from Fife and the surrounding areas, he has worked endlessly for his club and this cause with his weekly Bulletins to his members, advertising of the club nationally and internationally, bringing new people into the club. Club membership bring out must more than just running, I have travelled all over the country and saw so many different things that if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have enjoyed my running as half as much as I do now.

The club today goes from strength to strength with an annual member of over 160. It was Iain who approached me when I moved from Glasgow to Dunfermline in 2002 to come and try the Harriers, were glad we did as it changed our families lives in Fife,  from meeting so many fantastic and talented people of all ages ans as stated before travelling to places that you never knew existed.

The Harriers train every Tuesday and Thursday’s at 6.20pm from the Academy of Sport. To find the link click my maps!!!!

A Memorial Race to a Late, Great friend…

Another record breaking entry of nearly 300 people entered  Tinto

There was a great contingent from our Club Carnegie Harriers in memory of a great friend, Our Hill Running Captain for Carnegie, fantastic team mate, devoted family man, who died suddenly while out running in October 2007 this is the 3rd time we have ran George’s race Tinto.  He was a great motivator who loved life.

Aviemore Half Marathon 2009

Over a thousand entrants took part in this the fourth year of the Aviemore Half Marathon, a bit of self induced pressure was on this year as the winner from the previous so I was trying to play it cool on the outside, I was really looking forward to the event, it’s a great weekend with the fun run and picking up of your number which is pretty different from most other races.  We had stayed at Aviemore’s Lodge or Pinebank, which is a stone throw away from the actual Colyumbridge, which was half a mile away from the finish line. Outside our window we could see the bridge with the route passing straight by us!

Sunday morning.

Planned half marathon training run with the Club, 13 or so Harriers turned up, sunny morning a wee brezze which I knew it was going to get hot later on, had taken on plenty of fluids and to my surprize young John Hargreaves had turned up(Great young tall runner from Kelty who is a great talent who has never forfilled his potential)

After 15mins of waiting about we were off down the Glen towards Limekilns a few 7.30 miles nice talking pace then I led a 7min towards HMS Calendonia, got down towards Deep Sea World and young John opened up the pace going up the hill, I thought great a chance to open up and see how much damage I’ve done to the legs from yesterday, felt pretty good and strong for the remaining 5-6miles, it was a hard course if you check the elevation, lap splits and course.
