Dundee United team update

I was very privileged and proud to get the chance to work with a Scottish Premier Division team last year I worked for United every Monday from September until the close of the season in May this year where they managed a top 6 position in the league and just getting pipped on the last day of the season for a place in Europe.

I’ve not worked for them since but If I get a shout I would jump at the chance, unfortunately the team has injury worries even before the season gets under way next month, details can be found here

Mid afternoon I have to travel down to meet up with Dundee United in Glasgow to conduct a four hour pre Semi Final Massage Therapy session with Club’s Physio Jeff Clark, United take on Glasgow Celtic at Hampden on Wednesday night for a place in the CIS Cup Final, it’s going to be a hard week for the troops.

So sorry to the 35 people plus that normally come along, this is a one off, we are back to normal business on Wednesday.

On Thursday I make the 46mile journey back up to Dundee mid morning hopfully with a win in the cup the night before to conduct another  four session for the clubs match with the other old firm Rangers in the Scottish League cup, a crunch game as United are chasing Rangers and trying to extend the gap between themselves Aberdeen and Hearts, things are hotting up with just over 10 matches to go!

Another Win for Dundee United

Yesterday Monday I spent up at my normal Monday afternoon haunt,Tannandice where the mood in the camp is brilliant, with nearest rivals Hearts dropping points at Aberdeen in a heated battle and Celtic increasing their lead on Rangers at Ibrox this meant United closed the gap second position.

Celtic shall be keen to keep the gap at 7 points from Rangers however United are eager to continue their great form to continue to catch Rangers and leave Hearts in 4th position it’s a tall order, however Hearts take on their Edinburgh rivals Hibs so the weekend looks set to be an exciting one.

Tommy Working with Dundee United from December.

Just recieved a phone call from my contact with Dundee United this morning Wed 26th November.  The feedback from some of the First Team that used me two weeks came back very positive, so much so that the Squad and the Manager Craig Levein would like me to come back every Monday afternoon for four hours work weekly.

The recommendation came especially from their current Physio Jeff Clark who is a close friend and working colleague of Kevin Keegan.  My responsibilies shall be, Post Match Deep Tissue Massage to aid recovery, stretching the players to increase Dynamic Performance and to reduce muscle shortening thus lowering the risk of injury.  Assessing muscle tightness and limited ranges of movement and dealing with these issues appropriately.

Pictured here with Jeff and the rest of the Backroom Staff at United!
