After Running Leg 1 yesterday John had to leave sharp so I was planning on doing some extra training so Ryan McKenzie, who is planning on doing the Highland Fling race http://www.highlandflingrace.org/ at the end of April decided he would join me heading up towards West Lomond passing the Harperleas reservoir then after getting down to the checkpoint after West Lomond heading down to the finishline via the old route that was 75mins of running and probably 8 miles on top of our 4 and a half on leg1.
Total climbing 2000feet 13miles running total.
Sunday myself and John planned on going up to Loch Fitty near Kingseat, this is a great cross country area with undulating camber the ground is soft muddy wet slippy and very cold and heavy so it’s great for strength gaining, mu left groin has been pretty painful these last few weeks and I could feel it tight especially on a cold early start with 13 miles hard yesterday applying it’s toll.
Anyway got started and the pace for comfortable but not hanging about, that being said the conversation stopped and the pace gradually increased and increased until I felt as if I was racing. We done a full normal loop but before the iron gate we turned left back up and done another loop headed the opposite way up towards the chicken plant over the bridge then all the way to the Loch via the iron fence where I had to throw in the towel in I was knackered and had to stop, my breathing was ok but in oxygen depth but my legs were gone, I told John to carry on and I would meet up at the end which was about 1k away, which I done. I was glad to be finished, John ran well and confessed that he felt he ran better today than at the race, I would have to agree! Good to see him back though
