A lot of Ciruciteers there last night especially a few from our Saturday Beach Session.
Stevie King, speaking to him after the race, he felt as if he actually raced the circuit this year as in the past he has been suffering with constant niggles. Gail Murdoch used the race as a warm up before her 100k this Saturday.
John Fulham ran well, Pete Brown who had a ding dong with Carnegie’s Claire Howie. Claire came along with Saturday regular Mairiann who had done really well and completed the 3 laps last night with a wee smile crossing the line.
Other entrants were Beacons runner Patrick Leask, Fife’s AC’s Sue Whisler & Kinross’s Chris Mysercroft. One very proud Lorna Mackenzie at her husband Steve Mackenzie who completed the course effortlessly, finishing his first ever race. Well done, Stevie! And well done to all who participant.
Some pictures from Knockhill shall be uploaded soon!

Sue ran this 35.5 miler on Saturday, one of her motivations was that if she broke 7hrs she would have an automatic qualification into the http://www.comrades.com/ Comrades Marathon which opens for entries from 1st-30th September.
After completing the race we learned that the race was half a mile further than expected, so she still might get in depending on authentication from her and others GPS watches, watch this space.
Sue after finishing her race on Saturday!

A 24-hour football tournament is to be held in order to mark the unveiling of the new £32m Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, North Lanarkshire, at the end of September. The event will begin on 30 September to celebrate the opening of the complex, which forms part of a wider bid to transform the former Ravenscraig steelworks and has received backing from the Scottish Government.Facilities will include a full-sized indoor football pitch with spectator seating; a full-sized outdoor 3G pitch and six floodlit five-a-side pitches, as well as a multi-purpose sports hall with nine badminton courts. A six-lane, 135m running track, throw and jump areas and a strength and conditioning area for athletes also form part of the centre, along with a large fitness suite equipped by Technogym, dance studios and a sports injury clinic. North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL) and North Lanarkshire Council contributed funding towards the development, which will be operated by the trust on behalf of the local authority. NLL chief executive Blane Dodds said: “Ravenscraig will take sporting facilities in Scotland to a whole new level and demonstrates our commitment to provide the very best leisure opportunities for the people of North Lanarkshire.” The venue is to be used during the International Children’s Games in 2011, as well as offering training facilities for London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 athletes. |
